Hey there! 你好.
My passion for storytelling began with my family’s Saturday movie nights, when everyone would unfailingly come together and spend a few hours transported to a different world. As a daughter of refugees, these movie nights meant more to my family than simply entertainment or an escape - it was a way to acclimate to a new world, and to dream beyond the possibilities of their new life.
Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, I am a proud second generation immigrant. I believe that stories act as a vessel for dialogue and change. I’m particularly drawn to stories that explores the complexities of the immigrant experience and intergenerational acculturation. With my work, I aim to create open dialogue around universal truths and issues, dissecting social structure and race relations while forming connections across communities.
As a trained stage actor, I hold a BA/BEd from the University of Alberta as well as an MFA in Acting from the University of Connecticut. I’ve worked alongside renowned directors including Hannah Eidinow, Dexter Singleton, and Brendon Fox. On stage, I have performed in a number of regional productions, including the lead roles of Joanne in RENT, Eurydice in Metamorphoses, and Bélén in Seven Spots on the Sun. Throughout the pandemic, I participated in Zoom productions were streamed throughout Canada, America, the UK and Germany. I’m also found on screen as an actor and voice actor for BioWare, and appeared in several local/state-wide commercials, marketing campaigns, and industrials.
I have also written and directed plays selected for the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. As a producer, I have worked on several projects with The Sống Collective, including a 59E59 Space Lab and Asian Cinevision’s Asian American International Film Festival (45) Screenplay Competition.
In living a balanced life, I also find joy in breakfast sandwiches, any noodle or pasta dish, trying new foods, hiking, hot yoga, swimming, and admittedly, can be easily distracted by animals, especially dogs.
